Quick facts
Trip breakdown
Flow
The day begins with pickup from the lodge, hotel, or agreed meeting point, followed by a short briefing covering timing, safety, and what to expect from Gorge Swing.
Gorge Swing is a full send off the edge of the Batoka Gorge with nothing but air below you. Free fall first, massive swing after, and a serious adrenaline rush all the way. Not graceful, not calm, just raw nerves and a big smile at the end.
After the activity, guests are returned to their lodge, hotel, or agreed drop-off point, with optional next-step recommendations if needed.
Before you go
Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) serves the Zimbabwe side and Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI) serves Livingstone, Zambia. Both have basic facilities including currency exchange, car rentals, and transfers to hotels. VFA has recently been upgraded with improved terminals and amenities.
For domestic flights, arrive 1.5 hours before departure. For international flights, arrive 2-3 hours early. The airports are relatively small but can get busy during peak tourist seasons. Check-in counters typically open 2 hours before flight time.
The best time depends on your priorities: February-May for maximum water flow, September-December for Devil's Pool access and clearer views, or April-June for pleasant weather with moderate water flow. Avoid November if you want clear photos as spray can be heavy.
November can be challenging: Early rains begin, water flow increases creating heavy spray (the "smoke"), and humidity rises. However, the falls are powerful and green, temperatures are warm (25-30°C), and it's less crowded than peak season.
January is peak rainy season: Maximum water flow creates incredible power but heavy spray can obscure views. Temperatures are hot (25-30°C) with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Some activities may be limited due to high water levels.
