Trip breakdown
Flow
Your adventure begins with arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. After settling in and freshening up, you will embark on an afternoon guided tour of the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls. Wander along the rainforest trails to witness the full majesty of the falls, stopping at key viewpoints for breathtaking photos. See the iconic Big Tree, a massive baobab that has stood for centuries, and take in sweeping views of the Zambezi River as it plunges into the Batoka Gorge below. Learn about the geology and history of this natural wonder while feeling the mist on your face and hearing the thunderous roar of the water. The day ends with dinner at your hotel or a nearby restaurant, giving you time to relax and soak in the atmosphere of this extraordinary location.
On the second day, after breakfast, you will cross into Livingstone, Zambia, for a guided tour of the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. The day is filled with options for adventure, including a thrilling Devils Pool swim, the Gorge Swing, or a Tandem Zip Line over the Batoka Gorge. In the late afternoon, unwind with a Sundowner Cruise along the Zambezi River, enjoying drinks and the vibrant sunset before returning to your hotel in Zimbabwe for dinner and overnight stay.
The final day starts with an early morning wildlife experience, such as a Livingstone Rhino Walk or a guided horseback safari through the bush, allowing you to get close to nature in a safe and controlled environment. After returning to your hotel for check-out, there is an optional city tour where you can explore local markets and pick up souvenirs to take home. Finally, you will be transferred back to Victoria Falls Airport for your departure, concluding an unforgettable three-day journey across Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Before you go
Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) serves the Zimbabwe side and Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI) serves Livingstone, Zambia. Both have basic facilities including currency exchange, car rentals, and transfers to hotels. VFA has recently been upgraded with improved terminals and amenities.
For domestic flights, arrive 1.5 hours before departure. For international flights, arrive 2-3 hours early. The airports are relatively small but can get busy during peak tourist seasons. Check-in counters typically open 2 hours before flight time.
The best time depends on your priorities: February-May for maximum water flow, September-December for Devil's Pool access and clearer views, or April-June for pleasant weather with moderate water flow. Avoid November if you want clear photos as spray can be heavy.
Yes, October is excellent! Water levels are moderate, the spray isn't overwhelming, weather is warm (25-35°C), and Devil's Pool is usually accessible. It's less crowded than peak season and offers good value for money.
September offers excellent conditions: Water flow is reduced enough for clear views, weather is warm and dry, Devil's Pool opens (usually mid-August to January), and it's shoulder season with fewer crowds. Perfect for photography and activities.
